Looks like the team at Mozilla is following in Opera's footsteps and submitted a version of the popular Firefox browser to the iTunes Store. What's interesting is that it's not really a full browser like the Opera Mini. Instead Mozilla is focusing on sync functionality that will have your open tabs, history and bookmarks available on your iPhone instantly.

"Firefox Home is a free application that provides access to your Firefox desktop history, bookmarks and open tabs on your iPhone. Firefox Home enables access to the websites you need on the go by picking up where you left off with your desktop browsing. Firefox Home uses your browser data, securely synced from Firefox on your desktop to the cloud, to let you search and browse it quickly and efficiently. You can view the sites you want directly in Firefox Home, open them in Mobile Safari or share them with friends via e-mail. Your Firefox data is private and only you have access to it."

We have all seen a pretty demo from Wired for their digital magazine version a while back. It was impressive and showed us what the future of digital magazines will look like. Now that the iPad version is out and digital versions for other tablets are on the way it is time to see if Wired delivered on their promise.

First thing you will notice is that the price for the iPad edition is $4.99 same as the cover price. What's lacking here is a subscription model similar to the print edition. I don't know many people who pay full cover price of any magazine. Give me $12 a year subscription fee and I am sold. Although Wired does try to justify this price by giving you extra images, videos, and sounds that are impossible to reproduce in print edition.

There is a downside to all this content and eye candy, and that is the size of this issue. This issue will take up a little over half a gig on your shiny tablet. And If you count 12 issues of this magazine at this size half the space of your 16GB iPad will be taken up by it at the end of the year. Whether or not there are interactive slideshows, videos, or sounds half a gig per issue is just not acceptable.

Here is a list of all the new features straight from wired.

FEATURES

Innovative features of the Wired App include:

* Every page in the issue is individually designed for optimal viewing on the iPad screen in both portrait or landscape orientation.
* Navigations from the cover, which allows readers to touch cover lines to go directly to stories giving direct access to editorial content.
* Content organized in vertical stacks rather than magazine-like spreads.
* Design cues throughout to lead reader through the issue, augmenting the scroll bar with subtle indications of more content and additional features to explore.
* Drop down Table of Contents (TOC) and Browse view (zoomed out view of stacks of content) make for easy navigation and sense of place within the issue.
* Orientation-appropriate photography offers different images taking advantage of layout changes whether in portrait or landscape mode.
* Animated 360° images show readers every side of Iron Man and let them explore the history of Mars landings.
* Unique slide shows take readers through multiple views using touch for image progression.
* Four editorial videos including an exclusive clip from Toy Story 3. All video is embedded into the app allowing for automatic load, display in HD and access without a connection.
* Music to enhance story telling, including an exclusive listen inside Trent Reznor’s recording studio.

Advertising in the issue is also enhanced. Nine advertisers took advantage of premium sponsorships in Wired’s June digital edition, allowing them to incorporate interactivity and enhancements including 360º images, slide shows and videos. The premium advertisers include:

* GE displays a rotatable 360º image from the world’s first CT scanner in HD
* An Olympus slide show highlights the advanced photo capabilities of its new PEN E-PL1
* Fidelity Investments showcases its 10 Innovations for Investors in a slide show
* HBO includes a True Blood season two recap slide show promoting the new season’s June 13 premiere
* Intel, Infiniti, Nissan, Mercedes Benz, GE, and Pepsi all feature embedded HD video

We all knew it was coming but Amazon just made it official. Kindle app together with a library of more then 450,000 books is coming to Apple's iPad. It is great news for everyone that decides to purchase the iPad as more and more businesses decide to expand their presence to the new platform. Barnes and Noble's is also bringing their store to the iPad as was announced earlier

One cool feature of the Kindle app is that the app's developers have played around a little with Kindle's silhouetted figure reading under a tree iconography. In cover-navigation view, the sky behind the silhouetted figure will change according to what time of day it is.

After years of speculations and rumors the moment Steve Jobs unveils the iTablet is here. But guys at Engadget were lucky enough to secure a few images of the upcoming tablet just hours before the event. Is this the real deal or just another fake? To be honest it looks very real to me, and being that this image leaked just hours before the presentation is more proof of that. Some of the interesting things to note about the image is that it's clearly running some version of the iPhone OS. There are indicators for WIFI and a (No Service) message in the top left corner, indicating some sort of 3g connectivity.

As far as price goes we predict $699 with a 2 years contract.

Today we're trying a redesigned front page for folks who are new to Twitter.com. If you're a regular around these parts, then you won't notice the new look unless you sign out of your account. Helping people access Twitter in more relevant and useful ways upon first introduction lowers the barrier to accessing the value Twitter has to offer and presents the service more consistently with how it has evolved.

REDMOND, Wash. — May 26, 2009 — Microsoft Corp. today announced the evolution of Zune, the company’s end-to-end music and entertainment service, to a new platform and new markets. Zune will extend its video service to Xbox LIVE internationally this fall. This marks an important development in the Zune strategy and brings the Zune brand to more than 17 million international Xbox LIVE subscribers. In addition, Microsoft confirmed the next generation of the Zune portable media player, Zune HD. Available in the U.S. this fall, Zune HD is the first portable media player that combines a built-in HD Radio receiver, high-definition (HD) video output capabilities, organic light-emitting diode (OLED) touch screen, Wi-Fi and an Internet browser.

“The Zune music player is an integral part of the overall Zune experience, and we’re proud to be growing and extending our offering beyond the device,” said Enrique Rodriguez, corporate vice president of the Microsoft TV, Video and Music Business Group. “Delivering on Microsoft’s connected entertainment vision, this news marks a turning point for Zune as it brings cross-platform experiences and premium video content to living rooms around the world.”

Zune Service Expands to New Platform

Zune will be a premium partner in the Xbox LIVE Video Marketplace, bringing an exciting catalog of TV and film to the platform. Zune will occupy the first slot within the Xbox user interface in the Xbox LIVE Video Marketplace, exposing the Zune brand experience to millions of new consumers for the first time. At the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) next week, attendees will see firsthand how Zune integrates into Xbox LIVE to create a game-changing entertainment experience.

Introducing Zune HD

Zune HD is the next iteration of the Zune device family and brings a new level of listening and viewing experiences to the portable media player category.

* Zune HD comes with a built-in HD Radio receiver so users can listen to higher-quality sound than traditional radio on the go. Users also will have access to the additional song and artist data broadcast by HD Radio stations as well as additional channels from their favorite stations multicasting in HD. If you don’t like the song playing on your station’s HD channel, switch to its HD2 or HD3 channels for additional programming.
* The bright OLED touch screen interface allows users to flip through music, movies and other content with ease, and the 16:9 widescreen format display (480x272 resolution) offers a premium viewing experience on the go.
* The HD-compatible output lets Zune HD customers playback supported HD video files from the device through a premium high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) audiovisual docking station (sold separately) direct to an HD TV in 720p.*
* Zune HD will include a full-screen Internet browser optimized for multitouch functionality.
* Zune HD is Wi-Fi enabled, allowing for instant streaming to the device from the more than 5 million-track Zune music store.
